About USAID Project:
Tetratech
International Services seeks to implement a USAID-funded Uganda Sanitation for
Health Activity. The project will work to increase household access to
sanitation and water services, and improve health through hygiene behavior
change campaigns in homes, schools and health facilities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant for the USAID Project Communications Specialist job
    placement must hold an advanced degree in Communication, Journalism,
    English, or related field OR related fields
  • At least eight (8) years of work experience in the field of
    communication and or journalism.
  • Applicants with previous USAID experience are also encouraged.
  • Previous experience in developing and implementing communication
    strategies and plans in diverse projects and communities.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written, in English.
  • Proven ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment
    with sensitivity and respect for diversity and gender are essential
    requirements.
  • Proficiency in the production of communication materials in English
    and other local languages. Basic photography and videography skills
    required.
  • Knowledge of Ugandan media is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Willingness to regularly visit project sites
  • Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills;
  • Knowledge of USAID branding and communication desired;
  • Cultural sensitivity, integrity and ability to work with minimum
    supervision and under pressure.
  • Language; Fluency
    in English required.
