Uganda Railways
Corporation (URC) is a body corporate established under an Act of Parliament to
construct, operate and maintain railway, marine and road services both inside
and outside Uganda for the carriage of passengers and goods. As a result of
privatisation of operations, the mandate of URC changed from that of an
operator to that of asset holder, concession monitor and advisor on railway
technical matters.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reconcile Bank Accounts, Creditors and Debtors Accounts and report
to Management weekly and monthly. - Consolidate branch bank reconciliation statements for all banks and
Sun ledger accounts, and report to Management on a weekly basis - Prepare daily Bank/Cash position reports for Management
- Inspect Railway stations’ monthly in line with the accounting manual
- Develop efficient inventory management systems
- Receive into stores and issue inventory to users as per URC
financial guidelines and IFRS - Process payments as approved by Management
- Supervise the input of data into the Financial Management System
- Review systems data bases against bank payments and prepare
exceptional reports to Management
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Uganda Railways Corporation (URC)
Finance Officer job placement should possess a Bachelor’s degree in
Finance, Accounting or Business Computing - Part Professional qualification of CPA Level 2 or ACCA Level 2
- A minimum of three years’ experience in the Finance Department
- Must prove ability to deliver assignments in time with minimum
supervision - Hands-on experience with Sun System, SAP or any proven financial
management system.
