Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) is a center of scientific excellence that harnesses
the benefits of trees for people and the environment. Leveraging the world’s
largest repository of agroforestry science and information, we develop
knowledge practices, for farmers’ fields to the global sphere, to ensure food
security and environmental sustainability. ICRAF’s headquarters are based in
Nairobi, Kenya, and we operate six regional programmes in Sub-Saharan Africa,
Asia and Latin America. Our vision is an equitable world where all people have
viable livelihoods supported by healthy and productive landscapes. Our mission
is to harness the multiple benefits trees provide for agriculture, livelihoods,
resilience and the future of our planet, from farmers’ fields through to
continental scales.
the country research for trees on farm for Biodiversity (IKI Project). It will
report to the Country Representative Rwanda.
- Review of previous country level projects that support trees on farm
activities - Collect and review existing country level datasets for trees on farm
activities, including their quality - Review country level dataset or reports on livelihood benefits for
trees on farm - Carry out desk studies, telephone interviews and personal visits to
support project team in carrying out the review of Uganda’s policy
framework and Institutional analysis and biodiversity character mapping - Following up with both Agriculture and Forestry Departments on agroforestry/
farm forestry interventions. - Support in mapping and analysis of potential trees on farm finance
actors and mechanisms in Uganda. - Support the country leader in liaison of activities through ICRAF
country office and with HQ and ensure provision of information relating to
IKI project. - Plan for meetings, workshops and any field related activities
- The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Forestry,
Environment, conservation Biology, agriculture. - Three years of working experience in the field of biodiversity,
agroforestry, or natural resources management. - Good writing skills in both English and Kiswahili
- Able to communicate effectively in the both written and oral
- Able to review and
synthesis reports and scientific articles - Able to organize and
facilitate multi-stakeholder meetings - Able to write
reports and make presentations - Able to work in a
multi-disciplinary team - Good Interpersonal skills
