provide lasting solutions to poverty, injustice and human suffering. LWF Uganda
works to reduce people’s vulnerability, supporting them to realize their
potential, to build on their assets, and to respond to their own problems and
needs. LWF Uganda currently has five areas of operation in Pader, Kitgum,
Adjumani, Katakwi, Sembabule, Kampala and Kamwenge Districts.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Works towards effective, timely and quality implementation of the
    nutrition interventions in Kyangwali settlement;
  • Leads the team to conduct health and nutrition assessments as
    required;
  • Collects information regarding the overall health and nutrition
    situation and needs of the Congolese refugee children and their families
    in the community;
  • In conjunction with the BCC officer, assists in organizing and
    implementing awareness sessions for refugee children, adolescents,
    families (pregnant and lactating women in particular) and communities at
    large;
  • Ensures monitoring plan is in place and applied, and builds capacity
    of the staff carrying out their work;
  • Produces timely reports for internal and external use on the ongoing
    activities of the project;
  • Participates in UNHCR-led Field Health coordination groups and
    liaises with UNHCR focal points and other organizations working in the
    field of health in Kyagwali;
  • Comply with LWFs Children policies and practice with respect to
    child protection, code of conduct, and other relevant policies and
    procedures;
  • Visit project sites and liaise on a regular basis with CHWs and
    weekly with partners, communities;
  • Weekly reporting to Sub Program manager to guarantee the smooth
    operation of the programme;
  • Liaise regularly with the Sub Program Manager for technical issues
    and support;
  • Support and cooperate with other LWFs sectors to ensure that
    nutrition sensitive programing is adapted and implemented;
  • Assists in writing proposals to potential donors and sharing the
    relevant project information;
  • Identifies marginalized individuals and groups and recommends viable
    initiatives to the Sub Program Manager for appropriate action;
  • Establishes and improves the nutrition information and management
    systems of the supplementary feeding program;
  • Develops and disseminates nutrition training materials and
    information.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Lutheran World Relief (LWR) Project
    Nutritionist job opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition
  • At least three years of experience in implementing nutrition
    programs
  • Experience in staff training/capacity building of program staff
  • Proven M&E skills and the ability to write good program reports
  • Strong communications skills and the ability to work effectively
    with a range of stakeholders, including nutrition clusters, partners and
    Ministry of Health
  • Ability to analyses diverse information and develop recommendations
    for an appropriate capacity-building plan
  • Flexible, reliable, and with the ability to work in isolated and
    stressful environments under pressure
