Medicine Children’s Foundation -Uganda (Baylor-Uganda) is an indigenous
not-for-profit child health and development organisation affiliated to the
Baylor College of Medicine International Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI), a
Network of paediatric HIV/AIDS care and treatment Children’s Clinical Centres
of Excellence and international program offices in 11 countries across Africa,
Eastern Europe and North America.
design and operate systems
- Server administration: Install, configure, operate and maintain
servers using the standard technologies - Networking: Design, install, operate and monitor the computer LAN,
WAN and internet - Security administration: Ensure all IT resources are secured both
physical and logically & manage - Firewall security management: Backup Administration: Manage online,
offsite and offline backup backups using available systems - Coordinate with offsite backup service provider to ensure that
backups are running smoothly - Hardware and software maintenance: Perform onsite component
replacements like RAM, hard disks and liaise with vendors for repairs of
equipment that cannot be repaired locally; - Telephony management: Alcatel PABX management and liaison with
telephony vendor; - Database and Web administration: Maintain MySQL database back ends
by performing regular database backups, checks and repairs; - User training and mentorship: Regular user training at regional and
district/health facility level; - IT Administration: Maintain an updated list of IT inventory,
equipment the need repair and disposal; - Documentation: Installation and configuration documentation; SOPs
and policies documentation in liaison with the IT manager; Diagraming etc.
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
/Information Technology - The candidate must have at least five (5) years of experience in
Information technology, telephony systems, wide & local area networks. - Knowledge of computer systems/networks
- Experience in Window server configurations (ADDS, DNS,Group policy,
DHCP, WSUS ,Windows backup - Understanding of Data and resource protection requirements
- Experience in troubleshooting hardware
