Data Management Officer
Sciences Program is a collaborative Bio-medical research and service delivery
organization. It strives to improve the quality of life of the local population
through a combination of community based research, curative services and
prevention strategies in the District of Rakai, South Western Uganda. It is
based at the Uganda Virus Research Institute Entebbe and Kalisizo in Rakai
District.
manage the huge sample archive at RHSP including the physical samples as well
the Freezer Works sample archival system. He/she will be responsible for
archiving, tracking, updating sample records, along with preparation of all
relevant paperwork related to sample shipments and management of other
sample-related records. Conforming to Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP)
guidelines is a must. RHSP laboratory has both automated and/or manual assays
in the fields of chemistry, molecular biology, flowcytometry, hematology,
microbiology and serology.
- Manage the freezer archive system (electronic and physical)
- Any other official duty as may be assigned by laboratory management
- The applicant must hold a Diploma in medical records or a related
archives management course. - Two years of experience in a clinical/research multi-disciplinary
laboratory. - Experience in sample archival will be an added advantage, however
onsite training will be availed. - Computer knowledge, especially Excel and Word packages
- Skill in professional code of conduct and ethics
- Pleasant, social, hardworking, flexible, with a team work
spirit/building. - With good interpersonal skills, and high integrity.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
- Self-motivated and able to work under minimum supervision.
- Willingness to work and reside in a rural setting – Rakai District.
- Willing and ready to work for longer hours.
