War Child Holland
(WCH) is an International non-profit organization that has been working in
Uganda since 2004, mainly in the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) affected areas.
As the situation in Uganda has stabilized, WCH has closed its programs related
to the LRA conflict and started a refugee response program in early 2016 in the
West Nile region, offering psychosocial support to children, young people and
families in the refugee and host communities. In addition to psychosocial
support, the country office is in the process of establishing education
projects with partners.

Job Summary: The Finance Coordinator will work under the leadership
of the Regional Finance Advisor. S/he is responsible for financial analysis,
planning, and oversight to support effective financial management and
implementation of Uganda. The individual will be responsible for the management
of funds in such a manner as to maximize operational effectiveness and
efficiency while minimizing risk, and ensures that an adequate control
structures, policies, procedures and systems are in place over the organization

of the Regional Finance Advisor. S/he is responsible for financial analysis,
planning, and oversight to support effective financial management and
implementation of Uganda. The individual will be responsible for the management

efficiency while minimizing risk, and ensures that an adequate control

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide overall management and coordination of the work of the
Uganda finance team. - Responsible for financial analysis, planning, and oversight to
support effective financial management and implementation of War Child
Holland in Uganda, Uganda country annual budget and aligned strategies and
policies. - Oversee the effective and efficient operation of finance function
across the country program to deliver timely, reliable and accurate
high-quality accounting and reporting activities and requirements using a
risk-based approach. - Advises and supports managers on the interpretation and
implementation of a wide range of WCH’s financial policies and procedures
and best practices with regards to the financial management and internal
controls and ensures effective and efficient implementation of financial
and internal controls and compliance with WCH’s policies and procedures. - Ensures compliance with local laws and statutory audit and financial
reporting requirements as well as WCH and donors’ policies and procedures. - The job holder is expected to contribute to operational planning and
implementation of corporate and regional Finance initiatives. - Contributes to developing and delivering targets and plans within
the country program and possibly more widely within the region;
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The War Child Holland (WCH) Finance Coordinator must hold a
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or any related area; A
professional qualification in ACCA, CPA, CFA etc is desirable. - A minimum of six years of accounting experience in a large
organization preferably INGO. - Good leadership skills with at least three years in a managerial
position. - Significant experience in using Financial Management Information
Systems (UNIT4 Business World accounting package, GAAP, IAS/AFRS
accounting requirements and budgeting, Tax laws and systems in Uganda is
an added advantage. - Knowledge on Budgeting and Budgetary control, Financial analysis,
Donor financial accounting procedures, Operations of sub grant
partners/community based organisations, Accounting Procedures and
Standards and Computerized Accounting Systems and Spreadsheet is an added
advantage. - Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and planning skills.
- Good, proven experience of training and developing staff.
- Ability to work with a high degree of professionalism.
