Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance with activities of daily living like grooming,
clothing, feeding and communication skills and initiate creative ideas on
how to keep the special needs children active and engaged. - Ensure progressive physical, cognitive, emotional and psychological
development of the children. - Create a conducive learning environment that meets the needs and
interests of the children and individualise their education and learning
with the guidance of a specialised teacher. - Provide regular reports regarding the activities, behaviour and
developmental progress of the children as well as constant feedback on any
observations made from interactions with the children. - Make timely referrals about the children’s status to the relevant
stake holders for proper management of different cases as they arise. - Train and mentor mothers and other care providers on managing the
children and take care of the children’s’ personal hygiene. - Ensure safety of the children as they interact with the community
through close physical monitoring. - Ensure that the children receive their allotted daily nutritional
rations in time and adhere to the medical routine and schedules.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the Watoto Child Support Assistant job opportunity
should hold a diploma in Social
Work, Social Science or Child Development. - At least 6 months working experience working with children.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment and love
- Has demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
