Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) seeks to end pediatric HIV/AIDS through
research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs. We are a global
leader in the fight against pediatric HIV and AIDS, working in 15 countries and
at 7,000 sites around the world to prevent the transmission of HIV to children,
and to help those already infected. Today, because of the highly successful
work of the Foundation and its partners over the last 25 years, pediatric AIDS
has been virtually eliminated in the United States and new infections in
children have declined by 58% worldwide. EGPAF Uganda Country program is
currently implementing a number of projects in partnership with various donors.
Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) implements the USAID Regional Health
Integration to Enhance Health Services in the South West Uganda Project
(RHITES) whose aim is to increase the availability, accessibility and quality
of integrated health services including HIV and TB prevention, care and
treatment; maternal, neonatal and child health services; family planning;
nutrition assessment, counseling support; malaria prevention and treatment and
other primary care services.
champion the designing and delivery of evidence-based innovative demand
creation interventions and adoption of healthy practices for core service areas
that include: Family Planning and Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS prevention,
care and treatment services.
- Formulate and implement strategies that will ensure access to a
range of services that include Maternal and Neonatal Child Health, Malaria,
Family Planning Nutrition; and HIV prevention, care and treatment
services. - Lead the development/adaptation of technical demand creation tools
in consultation with the relevant senior staff and other key stakeholders
at all stages of the project implementation - Provide technical support and build capacity of program teams,
district health teams, CSOs/CBOs and other partners in demand generation. - Design and/or adapt communication strategies to create behaviour
change in the community. - Develop plans for promoting risk reduction and health seeking
behaviours among the target population. - Engage stakeholders for promotion of health seeking behaviours and
risk reduction behaviours amongst target population. - Provide technical guidance during the development of annual work
plan and participate in the planning and budgeting activities, especially
in regard to demand creation for the integrated package of services. - Coordinate technical reporting according to defined reporting
schedule and write regular monitoring and technical reports as required by
EGPAF and the donor. - Supervise a team of Social Behaviour Change Communication Officers.
- Take any other assignments provided by the Supervisors.
- The applicant for the USAID EGPAF RHITES Demand Creation Technical
Advisor job opportunity should hold a degree in Social Sciences, Social
Work, Public Health or any other related field - Additional training at post-graduate level in Public Health, health
communication and SBCC - At least five years of experience in management/coordination of the
demand creation and SBCC interventions - Knowledge of models and strategies of demand creation.
- Good knowledge of district health system and community structures
relevant to implementation of integrated health services. - Ability to coach, mentor and develop technical capacity in national
programs and technical staff - Excellent written and verbal communication or interpersonal skills
is a must. - Good analytical skills and ability to support a cross section of frontline
health workers - Ability and willingness to travel within the supported districts in
South West Uganda
