implement BRAC Uganda Sanitation for Health Activity (S4H) in the project
cluster areas in line with project expected results/targets using CLTs, social
marketing of sanitation products through the CHP and ELA models in an effective
and efficient manner taking into consideration of other private sector
engagement initiatives The position requires a passionate, innovative and result
oriented person with a strong background in community project implementation,
social marketing, private sector engagement to activate demand for sanitation
products as well as facilitate the required behavioural change.
- Carry out community situation assessment with local leaders and
communities to identify key Sanitation problems and intervene
appropriately - The jobholder will also implement hygiene and sanitation promotion
activities in communities to ensure adoption of improved latrine use, hand
washing practice, and acquisition of life skills, pit covers and tippy
taps. - Conduct sanitation related trainings and refresher trainings as well
as extend guidance and technical support to the Community Health Promoters
(CHPs) and local leaders. - Implement, and monitor S4H based on the CHP model, ELA clubs while
working closely with Project Assistants, Area Coordinators for all
districts/branches in the operation areas - Supervise, mentor and coach CHPs on effective sanitation product
promotion and social marketing approaches - Compile and submit monthly and quarterly work plans and reports with
attention to detail in the latter and in line with key performance areas
& indicators. Identify and document important change stories that
arise for S4HBRAC WASH interventions
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental
Sanitation/Health Sciences, Public Health, Community Health or any other
related field attained from a recognized higher institution. - Strong community mobilization and facilitation skills and the
ability to effectively communicate clearly and persuasively key issues to
communities - A minimum of three years of experience in implementing WASH related
activities in development context or public health related in an NGO
setting. - Knowledge about CLTS, Social marketing and market based sanitation
approaches. - Ability to coordinate a range of diverse actors and activities to
achieve a common objective in Sanitation and Hygiene. - Knowledge of PRA methods, tools their application in project
implementation in the rural and peri-urban communities in the project
areas. - Computer skills: Ms word, Excel, PPT and ability to write technical
reports. - Fluent in English and any applicable local Language in operation
area.
