Accountant
(UTB) is a statutory organization established by Uganda Tourism Board Statute
of 1994 and reconstituted in the Tourism Act 2008. Its objectives are:
- To promote and contribute to the Development of Tourism sector both
within and outside of Uganda. - To coordinate with the Ministry responsible for Tourism and the
private sector in the implementation of the National Tourism policy.
The Accountant will primarily ensure proper maintenance of financial records
for timely production of reports to Management.
- Tasked with reviewing financial returns for accuracy and
completeness before inputting them into the financial/accounting System. - Ensuring compliance with the laid down financial regulations.
- Posting financial data generated on monthly basis.
- Preparing all journals to ensure that they are input in the
financial/accounting system. - Generating public financial reports and submitting them to users in
a timely manner. - Reviewing cash books and preparing monthly bank reconciliations on a
timely basis. - Generating records for VAT returns.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Management Accountant from
time to time.
- The applicant should hold an Honors Degree of Commerce (Accounting
option) or Business Administration (Accounting option) or a related
accounting degree from a recognized University. - Possession of ACCA or CPA is a must.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in
accounting from a reputable organization - Knowledge in computerized accounting packages, especially Sun System Spreadsheets and other IT skills would be extremely desirable.
- Good knowledge of the principles and practices of running a
government body or an agency like UTB, and the rules and procedures that
govern Uganda Tourism Board. - Should possess an excellent understanding of accounting principles
and computer skills in accounting software. - Should be a good team player.
- Age: Below 35 years
