Head of Epidemiology and Clinical Studies
Sciences Program is a collaborative Bio-medical research and service delivery
organization. It strives to improve the quality of life of the local population
through a combination of community based research, curative services and
prevention strategies in the District of Rakai, South Western Uganda. It is
based at the Uganda Virus Research Institute Entebbe and Kalisizo in Rakai
District.

- Proper identification of households and study participants as per
training/PROTOCOL - Asking questions, probing and recording responses in a manner that
does not contradict the protocol - Answering questions that the respondents may ask before, during and
after the interviews. - Reading and explaining the consent form to the study participant.
- Ensuring availability of supplies and logistic enough to perform the
day’s task (Self And Team Preparation). - Respectful handling of and dealing with study participants and other
community members and confidential handling participant data and RHSP
information - Completing household census forms and survey questionnaires and/or
forms/GIS data in accordance with protocol and checking for
validity/consistency of the information collected, as well as collecting
and validating information (during survey) that was not readily available
at the time of census for reasons such as absence of a household member. - Maintaining regular contact with the team leader and editor and
handing over completed census and survey forms to the field editor or team
leader as soon as they are ready. - Notify participants to come for research activities. This includes
riding a motorbike to households inviting persons to come to the study
hubs.
- The ideal candidate should a Diploma or Degree in Humanities or
Education - Possess a valid riding permit (with practical skill of riding a
motorbike) - Working experience of at least 1 year in a reputable health
organization - Experience in human subject’s research (added advantage)
- Willingness to reside in Rakai / Kyotera districts.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Fluent in Luganda.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision.
- Ability to use a Computer.
- Should be familiar with locations within Rakai and Kyotera district
