community-based approaches that emphasize community ownership. ROM’s holistic
model cares for the body, mind, family and community, empowering individuals,
households and the community in all aspects of their lives while building
strong and resilient communities. Reach Out Mbuya delivers comprehensive health
care services through four clinics, multiple mobile outreaches and
public-private partnerships within Kampala, Wakiso, Nakaseke and Luweero.
and working with Action for Community Development (ACODEV), as the Implementing
partners (IP) will be implementing a program: Sustainable Outcomes for Children
and Youth (SOCY) in the sub counties of Bamunanika, Buntuntumula, Kalagala,
Luwero town council and Kamira in Luweero district. Program goal: “Improved Wellbeing of Children and youth
orphaned and made vulnerable by HIV and other adversaries. The program will
focus on 2 Result Areas: (1) OVC, Youth and economic empowerment of Caregivers
to effectively access core services; (2) Improve coordination of community
based clinical and socio-economic services for efficiency and effectiveness
along the continuum of care.
close working relationship with the Artisans, Cottage Industry Trainers,
District Production Department and YFAs and other relevant stakeholders in the
district who are able to support the program. He/she will be responsible for
the day to day implementation of the youth activities life skills and economic
strengthening activities within the district including planning, monitoring and
report writing.
- Providing Technical oversight
to the implementation of youth activities in the district - Consolidating activity
reports for the district - Sourcing for Private
public partnerships to support youth activities within the district - Identifying and assessing
local partners (Artisans, agro enterprise trainers, market facilitators in
the agriculture value chain - Facilitate the youth
groups to benefit from Access to Government Opportunities and other
business opportunities - Supervising Youth Field
Assistants - Training youth on
entrepreneurship and business development - Training youth on
leadership and group dynamics - Supporting the youth
groups to access financial resources to sustain and expand their value
chains, through linkage with existing and potential markets as well as
financial institutions that provide credit for agricultural value chains. - Linking the youth to
identified markets and negotiation of contract agreements - The YPO will facilitate
training of the youth groups on capacity strengthening to improve their
life, livelihood, and literacy skills, provide agricultural extension and
advisory services - Sensitize youth groups on
livelihood diversification options along the selected value chains - Delivering quality
trainings to Youth Field Assistants - Monitoring the quality
service delivery to the youth - Mobilizing and assessing
youth to participate in the program
- The applicant must hold a
Bachelor’s Degree in Social sciences, SWASA, Development Studies,
Community development or related discipline, project planning &
management shall be an added advantage. - Three years of experience
preferably with a large scale national NGO serving high risk children or
youth - Experience in Youth and
Livelihoods programming. - Significant understanding
of complex emergencies; - Understanding of USAID
requirements; - Ability to work
effectively with diverse staff, parents and community members - Ability to implement and
supervise a positive learning environment while incorporating academic
enrichment programming - Experience with conflict
resolution and/or crisis management - Previous exposure,
experience and ability to coordinate activities of different stakeholders
at district and community level. - Excellent report writing
skills - Demonstrated ability to
work effectively both independently and or in a team environment. - Excellent interpersonal
skills - Strong planning and
coordination skills. - Excellent analytical and
problem solving skills. - Excellent computer, verbal
and written communication skills. - Ability to work under
pressure to tight reporting deadlines. - Action-oriented,
entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to planning - Ability to work
effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people - Passion, idealism,
integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed - A non-judgemental approach
regarding race, religion, culture, sexuality and lifestyle is critical. - Fluency in both English
and Luganda - Excellent working skills
with Microsoft Office and a database package - Ability to ride
