Program Manager
Eastern Africa (SFEA) is an international NGO registered in Uganda since 1994
and has its Head Offices in Kristiansand, Norway. SFEA has a mission to
eradicate poverty through interventions in Microfinance and Education. SFEA
intervenes through local partners in the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania
and South Sudan. SF’s identity is based on Christian values and strives to
approach all people with dignity and openness. With deep respect for human
dignity and a conviction of the value of equitable partnership, SF works to
empower the poor to take charge of their own lives and communities.
(YGlobal) is an ecumenical and diaconal organization for development and solidarity.
We are owned by the Norwegian YWCA- YMCA and the YWCA-YMCA Guides and Scouts of
Norway, and work in partnership with our sister organizations in the World
Alliance of YMCAs and World YWCA. Our vision together building global justice
and peace emphasizes our belief that if we work together we can create a better
world for everyone. The main target group for YGlobal’s work are children,
youth and young adults aged 8-35 years. We consider young people core to global
development and our work strengthens the voice of young people, both men and
women, so that they can influence unjust policies and contribute to
democratisation of power structures. YGlobal works on four main thematic areas:
Just Peace, Economic Justice, Democratic Rights and Environmental Justice. The
topics have been chosen due to the critical importance for our target group,
have a distinct rights-based focus, and are informed by the thematic priorities
of the World YWCA and the World Alliance of YMCAs. YGlobal has since September
2016 been involved in a UNHCR 1325 project in Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement,
Bweyale.
(YGlobal) will be tasked with supporting and supervising the project team, both
staff and volunteers in the follow-up of the activities under Y Global’s UNHCR
1325 programme in Kiryandongo Refugee settlement, Bweyale as well as ensuring
relevance and quality of interventions. Furthermore, the Program Manager has
the responsibility and mandate to execute specific project related duties and
the authority to make the necessary decisions to carry out the tasks given this
position.
- Ensure that the overall program activities are consistent with Y
Global’s mission, Focus Areas and methods. - Work in close cooperation with project managers and volunteers,
increase the quality in all aspects of the project such as the actual
program, the financial reporting, narrative reports, etc. - Coordinate with partner organizations in Uganda and South Sudan.
- Ensure quality and complete periodic reports are shared with OPM,
UNHCR, Y Global and the funding partners. - Strengthen and develop the relations with OPM, UNHCR and the funding
partners. - Strengthen the capacities of the project managers and volunteers and
ensure that they continuously develop their competence and capacity.
Promote team work and strengthen integrated delivery of project results
Develop funding proposals to different funding agencies. - Ensuring that Y Global has a comprehensive approach towards development
and qualitative synergy between project components in a way that several
components relevant to Y Global focus areas are represented in a
project/program and thus form a value chain that transforms beneficiaries
towards a better living situation. - Networking with likeminded NGOs, and firms.
- Create platforms for exchange and encourage partner organizations
both locally and regionally to network more actively. - Budget monitoring and management.
- The applicant for the Stromme Foundation Program Manager with
YWCA-YMCA Global (YGlobal) job placement should preferably hold a relevant
bachelor’s degree within Humanities, Social Sciences or Development
Studies. - Three years of working experience in a similar position.
- Prior experience of working with Refugees is an added advantage.
- Experience of working with Gender issues is desired
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
- A creative individual who possesses energy, self-confidence, and
flexibility, thrives in a dynamic multi-cultural environment. - Demonstrated appreciation of psychosocial support and Livelihoods
development of the poor. - Highly adaptable
- Good team player and high degree of integrity
- Possess leadership qualities as well as excellent people and
mentoring/ coaching skills. - Previous experience in activism, peacebuilding, advocacy and social
movement building. - Good coordination and facilitation skills
- Willingness to travel extensively inland
