sustainable opportunities for women to lift their families out of extreme
poverty by connecting people worldwide in a circle of exchange that enriches
everyone. We work with impoverished women to make money through the production
of paper beads and other products and to use their income and additional
training to start businesses for life-long sustainability.
Job Summary:  The Program team identifies, equips and
supports all BeadforLife members to become successful entrepreneurs. The
Program Assistant shall work together with the program team to deliver
entrepreneurial training, mentor, track members’ business performance and
create linkages through sharing their success with the world. The appropriate
candidate will work closely with the Entrepreneurial Coordinator. The ideal
candidate should have excellent communication skills an ability to walk for
long hours in the field. We are looking for someone who is organized,
hardworking, creative and flexible.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Recruitment of SBS members
  • Participate in the
    identification of communities and members that best meet the program
    goals.
  • Participate in the
    selection process and enrollment of members into the program.
  • Participate in the
    collection of accurate data and maintenance of a database for all program
    members.
Deliver Business Training Sessions
  • Plan and prepare training
    business materials ready for the sessions.
  • Deliver business training
    sessions according to the SBS curriculum.
  • Carry out module
    assessments for the members.
Business support to members
  • Participate in baseline,
    home and business field visits to members together with the team.
  • Review visit forms and all
    collected data.
  • Discuss and advise the
    team on strategic efforts to improve member performance.
  • Review and improve the
    program processes by working with department heads and facilitators.
  • Assistant must be willing
    to put in all necessary efforts to ensure the success of the Programs
    department.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a
    Degree in a relevant field from a recognized University
  • Three years of progressive
    community work and training experience preferably with a development NGO
  • Good command of spoken and
    written English, fluency in at least 02 Ugandan languages
  • Solid computer skills
    especially spreadsheets and data base application
  • Ability to train grass
    root community members
  • Business coaching and
    mentoring skills
  • Ability to deliver results
    independently and also through teams
  • Strong social skills
  • Honest and trustworthy
  • Good understanding of the
    local culture
  • Respect for diversity
  • High level of energy and
    ability to move around frequently
