The Water Trust develops and implements Water, Sanitation
and Hygiene (WASH) programs to combat disease and poverty in the developing
world and allow people to live empowered lives of dignity. The Water Trust
collaborates with community members, village leaders, local government and WASH
service providers to enable villages, schools and health centers to create
access to safe water, latrines, and environmental hygiene education. Since
2008, The Water Trust has implemented more than 300 projects in Masindi and
Kiryandongo, benefiting more than 120,000 people. The Water Trust is expanding
its programs and aims to be a leader in pioneering innovative technological and
behavioral change strategies to help foster healthy communities.
Job Summary:  The Project Assistant will backstop our senior
management team across functional areas. 
This temporary position is for three months with the possibility to
extend to six months by mutual agreement. This position is ideal for someone
who can provide strong support while learning first hand how a growing water and
sanitation non-profit operates.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Keenly track project
    plans, tasks, and regularly check compliance of activities with plans and
    TWT policies.
  • Support managers with
    regular reminders of policy and project plans and requirements to support
    timely completion and updates.
  • Provide administrative and
    clerical support to senior management team as needed (e.g, taking meeting
    minutes, procuring supplies, arranging travel, etc.)
  • Undertake and support
    special projects (such as migration of data to a new platform, evaluating
    a new software, creating training materials for staff, etc.)
  • Provide support in the
    preparation of presentations, reports, and other materials

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant for the
    Project Assistant job placement should preferably hold a Bachelor’s
    degree, master’s degree (in progress or completed) preferred
  • Excellent technology
    proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Strong interpersonal
    skills and capacity to work across cultures
  • Excellent self-management
    and organizational skills
  • Clear communicator with
    good writing skills
  • A “no task is too small
    nor too big” mentality
  • Preferably experience with
    photo and video editing software, or statistical software
  • Intellectually curious
