commercial banking services to various sectors of the economy including
financial support to Parastatals, Corporates, Small and Medium Enterprises,
Individuals, and Non-Governmental Organisations.
Job Summary:   The Manager, Consumer Banking will execute
and monitor the implementation of the strategy of the bank in relation to
growth of the Salaried portfolio as well as direct and supervise Relationship
Officers – Consumer to drive growth in line with the approved targets. 
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide a relationship based offering to the small and medium
    enterprises, through a proactive highly personal approach to meet the
    financial needs and service expectations of all clients in this segment in
    line with the business objectives.
  • Proactively manage the Salary portfolio to maximize revenue for the
    bank in terms of fees, margins and sales, minimize costs and risks, whilst
    maintaining the customer’s relationship with the bank.
  • Acquire new customers in terms of savings and loans as per the
    criteria outlined in the segment value proposition and reflected by the
    segment strategy and sales targets
  • Conduct a needs analysis with all new and existing customers to
    ensure that product opportunities identified are appropriate to meet the
    customers’ needs and expectations.
  • Plan a comprehensive contact management program for all customers
    within the portfolio and act on the calling program as planned to ensure
    that all customers are contacted, to meet customers service expectations,
    improve knowledge and understanding of the customer (i.e. salary income,
    frequency of income) and identify additional customer needs resulting in
    cross sales.
  • Retain ownership of customer requests, complaints and applications,
    follow every task through to completion keeping the customer updated on
    progress
  • Participate in setting growth and quality targets and ensure timely
    communication of such targets at least one month before commencement of
    the performance period and drive growth of the Salary portfolio by working
    closely with branches to identify new business opportunities and grow the
    existing relationships.
  • Train Relationship Officers-Consumer in credit underwriting
    techniques and ensure continuous improvement in the quality of the credit
    underwriting in line with the credit policies and best practice.
  • Monitor the quantitative performance of the Salary portfolio and
    identify problem accounts that may require early action to mitigate
    default and prepare and submit monthly or weekly credit reports.
  • Through training and working with Branch Managers ensure that credit
    documentation standards as laid down in the credit policy are met at all
    times.
  • Regularly review the business and market environment to ensure that
    the institution’s Salary products remain competitive and Develop/recommend
    changes to the existing Salary products in line with the bank’s objectives
    and the industry best practice
  • Regular review and visits to existing customers are made to monitor
    the performance of the existing Salary loan facilities and furnish reports
    to management of the findings.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant for the Tropical Bank Limited Manager, Consumer
    Banking job placement must hold a bachelor’s degree in a business-related
    field such as Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting, Finance,
    Economics and Statistics
  • Master’s degree or Post graduate diploma in Business Administration
    or in any of the above fields or a professional qualification such as ACCA
    is a strong added advantage
  • Five years of experience in banking
  • Comprehensive knowledge of bank operations

  • Credit management practices and underwriting skills
  • Basic knowledge of principles, regulations and laws relating to land
    transactions, contracting and collateral documentation perfection
