About US:
The National Council
for Higher Education (NCHE) was established under “The Universities and Other
Tertiary Institutions Act, 2001” for regulating and guiding the establishment
and management of institutions of higher learning, regulating the quality of
higher education, equating of qualifications and for advising government on
higher education issues.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Assists with filing, payment of fees and serving of court process;
  • The Law Clerk assists with the renewal of the Practicing
    Certificates of the legal counsel in the department;
  • Manages the NCHE Court diary;
  • Follow up on Court matters;
  • The Law Clerk will be tasked with the delivery of documents to the
    Courts, external legal counsel and other institutions;
  • Assists with coordinating meetings in the Department; and;
  • Carries out any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
    by superiors.
Key Result Areas:
  • An updated case register;
  • Renewed Practicing Certificates;
  • Prompt delivery of legal documents within and outside of NCHE;
  • File storage and retrieval of data;
  • Registration of all documents pertaining to legal matters within and
    outside NCHE.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Law Clerk job placement should
    preferably hold a Diploma in Law for Law Clerks from a recognized
    institution;
  • At least three years of experience of working as a Law or Court
    Clerk in a reputable law firm or a Court of Law;
  • Should have good knowledge of the registry procedures and standards;
  • Must be ICT literate capable of using word processing, spreadsheets
    and database software packages;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
