Job Summary:  The
Grant Accountant will provide overall technical support to the grant in
accordance with World Vision accounting policies and procedures and the
Acceptable International Financial Accounting standards and liaise with the
Senior Finance Officer – Grants on all financial matters relating to the
project.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Promote financial
    accountability and reporting for the grant to ensure compliance to both
    World Vision policies and Donor Regulations
  • Tasked with strategic
    Planning and management through the provision of technical support and
    proposal budget preparations and ensuring proper budget management of the
    grant.
  • Ensure cost efficiency and
    effectiveness by advising and assisting management on grant financial
    aspects with particular emphasis on the financial implications of
    decisions to be made.
  • Capacity building of Grant
    staff by establishing and supervising of all work practices including the
    provision of opportunities for orientation, training, development and
    succession planning.
  • Risk management through
    the profiling of the risk in grants and ensuring that appropriate action
    is taken to address audit findings and implement recommendations.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the
    World Vision Grant Accountant job opportunity must hold a University
    Degree with a major in Accounting and part qualification in A.C.C.A, CPA
    or CIMA or equivalent.
  • At least three to five
    years of post-qualification experience, preferably with donor funded
    program
  • Proven knowledge of
    Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Internal Control Procedures.
  • Extensive Computer
    knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Sun systems accounting is
    required.
  • Able to communicate
    clearly and concisely both in writing and orally.
  • A high level of integrity
    is required.
