through the project life to challenge the belief and attitudes of parents in
girls’ upbringing, specifically, a low value is given to educating the
girl-child especially where girl children are burdened with heavy domestic
chores and are at high risk for defilement and greater social and economic
marginalisation. The incumbent will work together with the project team to
carry out the baseline, prepares & manage annual plans with gender lenses
and budget for the community WASH and Child protection interventions in a
gender transformatory way. The incumbent will also ensure to always add the
“gender lens” to all project activities and deliverables, specifically keeping
in mind the importance of positively improving the daily condition of women and
girls
- Support in the development of gender sensitive and responsive tools
to be used in the baseline survey. - Ensure that planning and implementation of the project is addressing
the root causes of gender inequality, always looking to not only improve
the daily condition of women and girls but as well as their social
position within society—keep the gender transformative lens on all work. - Work closely with the Gender Equality Specialist of Plan
international Uganda to build capacity of staff in gender equality
analysis and gender transformative programming - Support the WASH team in the promotion of hygiene and MHM activities
in schools and community among girls and boys, while ensuring to understanding
the barriers GBV places on women and girls in accessing quality MHM
services. - Familiarize with gender equality program criteria and support its
application to identify and address gender inequality and discrimination
especially with program beneficiaries. - To mainstream gender equality throughout the project life to positively
challenge the belief and attitudes of /caregivers in girls’ upbringing,
specifically, a low value is given to educating the girlchild especially
where girl children are burdened with heavy domestic chores and are at
high risk for defilement and greater social and economic marginalisation. - Provide support in the development of gender sensitive and
responsive indicators for the project and ensure the reporting is based on
identified gender outcomes. - Share best practices in gender equality programming throughout the
project. - Support the design and localization of gender sensitive and
responsiveness packages and delivery system at the community level - Coordinate and work with the gender working group at the settlement
level
- The applicant for the Plan International Gender Coordinator job
opportunity must hold a degree in social sciences, Gender or
Development Studies - Post graduate training in project planning and management an added
advantage. - Five years of experience in Gender, Development and implementation
of Gender Equality programs in a refugee or emergency setting with an INGO - Experience in the implementation of Gender Equality programmes in
responsive and transformative programming. - Facilitation experience, specifically with gender equality capacity
building trainings for staff and key stakeholders. - Experience in promoting Hygiene and MHM activities in schools and
community. - Experience implementing program activities that address gender-based
violence - Experienced capacity to deal with people of diverse cultures
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong advocacy and lobbying skills
- Hands on experience in facilitation and gender equality analysis
skills - Demonstrated skills and experience in proposal development, report
writing - Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
