Job Summary: The
Officer Financial Controls will ensure the overall integrity and accuracy of
the General Ledger as a basis for the preparation of financial and management
reports. The incumbent will be tasked with recording entries in the general
ledger. The jobholder will be tasked with the preparation of financial reports

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Tasked with monitoring Balance sheet and
Income Statement account movements and ensuring that they reflect the
correct balances and all relevant account reconciliations are performed
and corrective actions taken timeously. - Preparation of monthly general ledger
reconciliations to ensure that outstanding items are timeously cleared,
resultant entries processed and the amounts reflected in the general
ledger appropriately supported. - Daily review and clearance of suspense
accounts - Daily reconciliation of the BOU account
- Reconciliation of VAT and WHT control
accounts - Reconciliation of inter-company accounts
- Periodic agreement of inter-company
balances with other group companies. - Preparation of the monthly inter-company
return - Maintenance of the fixed asset register.
- Reconciliation of the fixed asset
registers to the general ledger. - Calculating monthly depreciation and
journal preparation. - Preparing summary fixed asset reports.
- Preparation of journals for upload onto
the system. - Opening of accounts on Bankmaster and
Intellimatch
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Stanbic Bank
Officer Financial Controls job placement should hold a B.Com
(Accounting/Finance). - Professional qualification i.e. ACCA
- At least two years of experience.
- In-depth understanding of International
Financial Reporting Standards. - Computer literacy and knowledge of
personal computers and software packages such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS
PowerPoint, MS Access & SAP. - Working knowledge of Bankmaster and
Branchpower is added advantage. - Good communication and presentation
skills at a senior level - Ability to work under pressure to meet
tight deadlines.
