Rights Protection, Education, Livelihood & Food Security, Health

and Governance systems.

Job Summary:
The Legal Officer will assist the Senior Legal Officer in Planning, and
coordinate activities of legal section, ensure compliance with laws and
regulations, and ensure best practices in the legal section.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Process Management
- Support the Senior Legal Officer in developing and implementing of
weekly /monthly /quarterly activity schedules & targets. - Support the coordination and follow up with legal service provision
and service providers as guided by the supervisor, i.e. Uganda Law
Society, KCCA - Ensure information dissemination to Persons of Concern and the
community on legal issues. - Conduct follow ups and referral of Persons in need of legal
assistance. - Support in coordination with service providers and stakeholders to
ensure access to legal services by Persons of Concern. - Support the Senior Legal Officer to compile weekly, monthly,
quarterly and annual reports to submit to the Programme Officer. - Support the Senior Legal Officer in all community activities as
guided. - Provide legal counselling to clients that need counselling
effectively. - Participate in morning addresses and registrations of clients as
scheduled from time to time. - Participate in community outreaches programs.

Risk Management
- Identify, assess and develop strategies to mitigate against
organisation risks related to the legal section. - Ensure compliance with the existing laws of Uganda.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with the existing laws of Uganda.
- Ensures compliance to internal processes, procedures and policies.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the InterAid Uganda Limited (IAU) Legal
Officer job opportunity should preferably hold a Degree in Law from a
recognized institution. - Possession of a Post graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Law
Development Centre is an added advantage. - At least two years’ relevant work experience in an NGO implementing
humanitarian programs. - Knowledge of Humanitarian/Refugee laws will be an added advantage.
- Good communication skills.
- High level of integrity
- Computer literate with knowledge of MS Word, MS EXCEL, MS Power
point. - Good interpersonal skills
- Team player
