Assistant

people affected by conflict to improve their safety and sense of security. We
do this by supporting effective policies and practices through advocacy,
research and policy development, and through supporting the actions of others.

people’s security and access to justice services; gender norms that cause and
perpetuate violent conflict; the impact of external conflict drivers including
weapons flows; conflict-sensitive political, economic, development, and
security engagement; and inclusive and accountable governance and peacebuilding
processes.
join our finance and administration team to ensure the smooth and efficient
management of the financial and administration systems. The post-holder will
support the project manager and other team members in operating a strong
financial control environment in the Saferworld Moroto office, including
maintaining comprehensive and accurate financial records and other bookkeeping
and banking tasks. He / She will also provide logistical and administrative
support to programme activities of the Saferworld Moroto office as required.
The post requires working closely with the Uganda team members and our partners
under the guidance of the finance manager, regional HR/OPs administrator and
finance and operations/HR team in London.
- Receive and process
payments in favour of suppliers, staff and any other providers of goods
and services to the organisation. - Process staff payment
requests, supplier and service providers invoices. - Review payment supporting
documents to ensure that they are in line with authorisation levels. - Management of project
cash. - Ensure the safe custody of
money in line with finance policies and procedures - Capture all financial data
in the organisation’s accounting software - Check for accuracy,
completeness and coding before transactions are entered into the
accounting system. - Support preparation and
submission of financial reports - Prepare monthly financial
statements - Support to internal and
external audit teams - Plan and prepare all the
necessary information the auditors would require to execute their tasks. - Coordinate the Office’s
administrative activities in an effective and accurate manner. - Work cooperatively with
all team members to support the achievement of the project work plans. - Safeguard and maintains an
updated register of all project assets within the office premises and
ensure that they are regularly serviced and are not mis-used. - Coordinate and arrange
team travel including hotel reservations and processing of staff travel
allowances. - Support the project team
in coordinating activities so that the project identified objectives and
goals are achieved. - Maintain an accurate and
up to date records management system including classifying and coding
electronic and hard copy files. - Support the project team
in preparation of all required internal and external reporting - Perform any other tasks
assigned by management
- The prospective employee
for the Saferworld Finance and Administration Assistant job placement must
hold a bachelor’s degree in business administration, or business studies
or management with specialisation in finance or accounting. - One year of experience of
working in finance, administration and/or procurement in a relevant field
in NGOs or INGOs. - Sound knowledge of
accounting procedures and principles. - Excellent skills of
operating Microsoft word and excel spreadsheets. - Experience of using
accounting software specially, QuickBooks - Fluency in English
(written and spoken) - A positive problem-solving
