Job Summary:
The Education Assistant will provide support to the Education Officer in
planning, coordination and promotion of easy access of Education for Refugee
children in schools.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Stakeholder
Management: Supporting the
Education Officer in strengthening partnerships with stakeholders; KCCA
education departments, refugee parents, teachers, learners, communities
Management: Supporting the

Process Management
- Supporting the Education Officer in mobilizing and sensitizing refugee parents in refugee community to support refugee
children access primary education in UPE and USE schools - Supporting the Education Officer in raising awareness among refugee
communities on the right to education for refugee children. - Organizing and conducting individual and group counseling sessions
to children in UPE and USE schools within in Kampala. - Providing support in assessing and identifying support for UPE
schools. - Identifying and assessing vulnerable children for support of UPE and
USE school fees. - Identifying and assessing children with disability for support to
enroll in special education schools. - Organizing and conducting holiday programmes for children in and out
of school from communities. - Supporting the Education officer in monitoring and evaluating the
NIE programme implementation with School Head Teachers. - Supporting the Education Officer in organizing training of teachers
and PTA members on the good school programme. - Coordinating and support the language trainer and the community
language services to refugees. - Compiling input for the weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and
specific activity reports and ensure timely submission to the Education
Officer - Implementing the good school programme across all UPE schools.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the
Education Officer

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the InterAid Uganda Limited (IAU) Education
Assistant job opportunity should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree
in Education or any other related discipline - At least two years relevant work experience in implementing
Education programs in an NGO environment is preferred - Good understanding of the Ugandan Education system
- Ability to understand and interpret the current education policy of
Uganda and properly align it to the refugee communities - Computer literate like in MS word, power point and excel.
- Good team player.
- Good planning and organizational skills
- Good communication skills both oral and written.
- Ability to work under multicultural environment and setting.
