behalf of its valued Client. The client is one of the leading multinationals
companies in the gas and electricity sector with a global presence, operating
in 30 countries and with nearly 18 million customers. The Company’s fully owned
subsidiary in Uganda is focused on the operation, maintenance and management of
hydro-power stations. The Company requires competent individuals for various
positions for a hydro power plant in Achwa, near Gulu in Northern Uganda.
Job Summary:    The
Civil Maintenance & General Services Engineer will plan, coordinate,
monitor and perform civil works and maintenance activities to ensure proper
condition of the auxiliary buildings, infrastructure and civil structures like
the dams, spillways, etc. of the hydropower plant facilities. Manage and
monitor other support activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Oversee
and manage the activities for the inspections, maintenance and repair of all
civil works.
  • Monitor civil maintenance activities for compliance with all
    applicable maintenance and safety procedures, regulations and standards.
  • Manage the dam and other civil works instrumentation and monitoring
    program and maintain project records.
  • Establish and implement civil works maintenance procedures and
    schedules for plant equipment.
  • Identify and solve issues relating to safety of dams and other civil
    works.
  • Detect, analyze, propose and implement modifications in the
    facilities that improve the maintainability of the plant, related to the
    dam, civil works and buildings.
  • Establish the material and human resources to carry out the civil
    works/ maintenance.
  • Supervise and analyze the technical and financial performance of the
    civil works maintenance department.
  • Establish the scope and content of the civil works maintenance
    actions.
  • Provide civil engineering assistance and technical guidance to
    personnel.
  • Maintain the records and drawings of all civil related structures
    for easy retrieval for future references.
  • Undertake inspection of existing civil structures to ensure
    excellent health of the plants’ civil structures.
  • Manage support services required during the operation and
    maintenance of the plant such as drivers, cleaners, etc.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil
    Engineering or related field
  • One to three years’ experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of civil engineering design, construction, maintenance and
    safety standards
  • Broad knowledge, understanding and experience across a broad range
    of civil engineering design and safety issues including building
    structures design, civil codes and standards; construction and
    commissioning of power plants, etc
