The Consortium for
enhancing University Responsiveness to Agribusiness Development limited (CURAD)
is a public-private partnership initiative promoted by the Makerere University;
the National Union of Coffee Agribusinesses and Farm Enterprises (NUCAFE) and
the National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO). The mission of CURAD is
to produce young innovative and skillful agribusiness incubatee Enterprises
through strategic partnerships that support training, mentoring and holistic
business development CURAD is an agribusiness incubation centre based at the
Makerere University Agricultural Research Institute at Kabanyolo. The key
outputs of the incubator are mainly young skilled entrepreneurs, profitable
enterprises and technological innovations and its target areas are the coffee
and horticulture value chains. The objective is to improve the efficiency of marketing,
to improve the quality of the product and to capture more value added products
in coffee and horticultural crops in ways that will increase returns to the
producers and create jobs locally.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive CURAD vehicles for the transport of authorized passengers and
delivery and collection of mail, documents and any other items. - Facilitate all logistical movements of CURAD personnel among the
different CURAD hubs sites and travels. - Perform day to day maintenance of the assigned vehicles, check oil,
water, battery, brakes, and tyres e.t.c and ensure that the assigned CURAD
vehicles are road worthy and maintained up to the established security
standards. Perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs and ensure
that the vehicle is kept clean - Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in
case of involvement in accident - Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil change,
greasing - Perform other relation duties as required
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Driver must hold an Ordinary Level Certificate; mechanical
skills are an advantage - Valid driving permit with classes B,CM & DL
- A minimum of five years of driving experience in a busy
organization; - Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrates a client- oriented
approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to
work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds - Experience with city driving and long distance up-country driving;
