Corporation (UDC) has been revived as an investment arm through which
Government will invest in strategic Sectors of the economy in partnership with
the private sector to trigger industrial and economic development of the
country. The mandate of UDC is to promote and facilitate the industrial and
economic development of Uganda.
Affairs/Corporation Secretary will plan, direct and control all legal related
and corporate matters of the Corporation and manage Board affairs.
- Head of department responsible for planning, managing and mentoring
staff in the department - Principal Legal Advisor of the Corporation
- Arranging the business at meetings of the Board
- Taking minutes at the meetings of the Board
- Keeping the records of the decisions and other policy records of the
Board - Negotiate and draw contracts that are to be executed between the
Corporation and third parties - Chief custodian of legal documentation of the Corporation
- Managing the performance of the Legal and Corporate Affairs
Department - Provide Company Secretariat services to the Corporation’s
subsidiaries - Responsible for the custody of the Corporation’s seal
- Defending the Corporation in courts of law
- Oversee the carrying out of legal due diligence on investment
proposals - Ensuring timely compliance with all statutory requirements
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
- The applicant must hold a Bachelors of Law degree plus Postgraduate
Diploma in Legal Practice and an advocate of the High Court of Uganda - Masters degree in Law or Business Administration
- Professional qualification in ICSA is added advantage
- At least ten years of working experience of which 5 should be at
Senior level - Good understanding of Ugandan economy and appreciation of the
culture and environment associated with commercial legal matters - Combination of public & private sector working methods
- Demonstrable track record of performance, executive presence and
decision making - Ability to interact, relate to, work with and support activities of
a dynamic Corporation - Prior experience in administration and management with an
organization and dealing with BOD - A track record of having handled litigations or court cases
- Considerable knowledge, experience and competence in managing legal
matters - Familiarity with the current global and local regulatory environment
for investment and developmental projects - Proven moral character, integrity and well demonstrated leadership
skills
