Marketing
Bishop Tucker Theological College was promoted as a university in 1997. Bishop
Tucker Theological College trained clergy and educators during its 84-year
history from 1913-1997. The local chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the
college to operate in Mukono. International partnerships were part of the
College’s missionary history. The Church Mission Society teamed with Ugandan
leaders and others to assure the College had the necessary intellectual and
other capital. By the late 1990s, the Church of Uganda sought to have a broader
impact on society through the higher education – not only of clergy but of
other professionals as well. Uganda Christian University was established in
1997.

- Working with relevant
University divisions, faculties, departments, regional colleges and
campuses to implement the University’s Communications and Marketing
strategy. - Ensure that all
communication and promotional activities reflect the Uganda Christian
University brand, and associated vision, mission and core values. - Work closely with senior
management and Manager, Communications and Marketing in responding to any
crisis, and be part of the crisis management team. - Design messages to
communicate a positive and consistent image of the University, both
internally and externally - Manage UCU information
platforms such as corporate emails and social media accounts - Assist in managing media
relations and media coverage. - Coordinate the development
of promotional materials (including on-line and visual materials and
advertising) and internal and external communications in all media. - Oversee gathering,
processing of information for timely update of University online media
platforms such as website, blog, face book and twitter - Assist in developing and
maintaining key relationships with individuals, external groups, partner
organizations, influencers, local communities and other stakeholders. - Review and edit all
University publications for accuracy, correctness, style and conformity to
University branding guidelines - Provide strategic
direction for the planning, management and execution of major university
events. - Prepare media briefs,
press releases and monthly media monitoring reports, activity reports for
the department - Perform any other official
duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
- The applicant must hold a
Master’s degree in Mass Communication or Journalism from a recognized
institution of higher learning. - Bachelor’s degree in
Communications or Journalism from a recognized institution of higher
learning. - Three (3) years of working
experience in corporate communication and public relations in a reputable
organization. - Proficiency in written and
spoken English. - Ability to implement a
communications strategy for the University, including: formulating content
and material that reflects our brand. - Knowledge of different
target audiences and their particular needs for information, including
different audiences inside and outside East Africa. - Knowledge of modern
communication methods including social networking and web strategy. - Knowledge and ability to
utilize media networks. - Ability to quickly
formulate appropriate responses to inquiries from a variety of sources
about the University. - Experience in videography
will be an added advantage. - Must be a mature and
practicing Christian.
