Public Accountants is a fast growing, middle level accounting firm licensed by
the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) to practice
accountancy in Uganda. The firm offers a range of services including accounting
and bookkeeping, auditing, tax advisory and other related services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible for the implementation of internal operating controls,
    processes and practices.
  • Recommend changes and enhancements to existing policies and controls
    to make sure they are current, adequate, functional and utilized in
    accordance with standards established.
  • Conducting assigned audit engagements successfully from beginning to
    end.
  • Effective Identification and communication of issues raised,
    offering recommended solutions to relevant risk.
  • Supervising junior auditors assigned to engagements, providing
    guidance and overall review of their work.
  • Ensuring audit conclusions are based on a complete understanding of
    the process, circumstances and risk.
  • Developing audit programs and testing procedures relevant to risk
    and test objectives.
  • Obtaining and reviewing evidence, ensuring audit conclusions are
    well-documented.
  • Ensuring adherence at all times to all applicable firm /
    professional standards.
  • Communicating assigned tasks to engagement team in a manner that is
    clear and concise ensuring high quality, accurate, and efficient results.
  • Manage a team of junior auditors or accountants, reviewing their
    works and providing guidance and training.
  • Address queries and complaints on audit related activities in timely
    manner.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a professional accounting qualification i.e.
    Full membership of ICPAU and/or ACCA.
  • A minimum of three years of Audit experience with an Audit firm
    registered with ICPAU.
  • Strong background and experience with audit methodologies and
    techniques.
  • High level skills with Spread Sheets
  • Knowledge of Uganda’s Tax Laws – domestic and customs is an added
    advantage
  • Knowledge of different accounting packages is an added advantage
  • Strong business acumen
