the monitoring and implementation of projects as well as in the provision of
experts in developing countries.
- Tasked with handling day to day accounting transactions (Regional
Office and projects) and their posting in AccountPro (accounting package) - Handling of all bank related issues – Bank transfers, payments, bank
reconciliations, online banking, organizing meetings with bank officials
for the Regional Director - Documenting and filing of all payments made through various bank
accounts of the Regional Office - Processing payrolls for all local staff members including NSSF and
PAYE - Prepare Monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports for the
Regional Office; including Petty Cash, Regional Office Bank and various
Projects managed by the Regional office - Ensure financial reports produced are accurate and within agreed
timelines - Prepare quarterly Funds Requests
- Manage all inventory
- Prepare accounting for Head Quarters in Vienna where all Country
Offices are consolidated - Prepare end of the year routine such as; a list of inventory, list
of staff for that year, list of keys, car mileage books, etc. - Work closely with the programme teams to establish the financial
resources available for programme implementation - Work closely with admin and logistics
- Work closely with the Regional Director on financial monitoring
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
- The Accountant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Commerce
or Finance and at least five years’ experience in a comparable position
preferably in an NGO in the field of development cooperation. ACCA
qualification will be an added advantage. - Ability to work against tight deadlines and under pressure,
excellent attention to detail - Ability to plan, prioritise and manage own workload under minimal
supervision - Ability to work on own initiative and to work well as part of a team
- Willingness to work outside normal hours when required
- Attention to detail, orderliness, integrity and love for number
crunching - Good interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office packages (especially Excel, Word,
PowerPoint) - Experience in usage of accounting packages (e.g. AccountPro,
Quickbooks)
