About US:
The Parliamentary
Commission of Uganda serves the following functions;
  • Appoint, promote and exercise
    disciplinary control over persons holding public office in Parliament;
  • Review the terms and conditions of
    service, standing orders, training and qualifications of persons holding
    office in Parliament;
  • Provide a Parliamentary reporting
    service;
  • Provide such other staff and facilities
    as are required to ensure efficient functioning of the Parliament;
  • To cause to be prepared in each
    financial year, estimates of revenue and expenditure for the next
    financial year; and
  • Make recommendations to Parliament, or
    with the approval of Parliament, determine the allowances payable and
    privileges available to the Speaker and Members of Parliament.
Job Summary:
The Information Officer – Presenter will present Parliamentary Radio audience
with information or entertainment in compliance with the set broadcasting
standards
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Research topics and background information for items to be featured
    on the programme
  • Plan, prepare and write scripts for shows
  • Present news bulletins or any other news-related updates
  • Host or co-host a programmes, and create/provide links between
    programmes/items
  • Operate some of the technical equipment for recording and playback
  • Keep the programme running as scheduled, responding positively and
    quickly to problems or changes and improvise where necessary
  • Regularly plan, assess and review broadcasts
  • Liaise with other members of the production and technical teams
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold an Honors Degree in Music Dance and Drama
    (MDD); or Mass Communication or Journalism with a bias in Broadcasting OR
    a Bachelor’s degree with a Diploma in Mass communication or Journalism
  • Creative and innovative
  • Excellent public speaking skills
  • Ability to entertain listeners and keep them tuned-in
  • Excellent command of both spoken and written English
