Information Officer
Commission of Uganda serves the following functions;
- Appoint, promote and exercise
disciplinary control over persons holding public office in Parliament; - Review the terms and conditions of
service, standing orders, training and qualifications of persons holding
office in Parliament; - Provide a Parliamentary reporting
service; - Provide such other staff and facilities
as are required to ensure efficient functioning of the Parliament; - To cause to be prepared in each
financial year, estimates of revenue and expenditure for the next
financial year; and - Make recommendations to Parliament, or
with the approval of Parliament, determine the allowances payable and
privileges available to the Speaker and Members of Parliament.
The Information Officer – Presenter will present Parliamentary Radio audience
with information or entertainment in compliance with the set broadcasting
standards
- Research topics and background information for items to be featured
on the programme - Plan, prepare and write scripts for shows
- Present news bulletins or any other news-related updates
- Host or co-host a programmes, and create/provide links between
programmes/items - Operate some of the technical equipment for recording and playback
- Keep the programme running as scheduled, responding positively and
quickly to problems or changes and improvise where necessary - Regularly plan, assess and review broadcasts
- Liaise with other members of the production and technical teams
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
- The applicant must hold an Honors Degree in Music Dance and Drama
(MDD); or Mass Communication or Journalism with a bias in Broadcasting OR
a Bachelor’s degree with a Diploma in Mass communication or Journalism - Creative and innovative
- Excellent public speaking skills
- Ability to entertain listeners and keep them tuned-in
- Excellent command of both spoken and written English
