Mengo Hospital was
founded in 1897 in Kampala, and is the oldest hospital in Uganda. It currently
serves as an urban community hospital that provides modern medical care. Mengo
Hospital provides comprehensive care including radiology, obstetrics,
dentistry, orthopedics, and surgery. Additionally, Mengo Hospital provides
critical training and education to health professionals through its various
programs in midwifery and nursing, health sciences, and laboratory technology.
Mengo Hospital also has a dedicated research and development team that works to
find new solutions to health issues in Uganda.
Job Summary: The
Works Supervisor will manage all maintenance and construction operations in the
Hospital
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Prepare technical specifications of
    construction projects in liaison with the Users and the Administration team.
  • Ensure quality of design documents
  • Provide continuous supervision and
    support to Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters and Masons  and other contracted staff on a regular
    basis
  • Assess and certify materials delivered
    on site before being used
  • Prepare and submit   timely reports on all ongoing works
  • Conduct inspection of ongoing works in
    the electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other related sections in the
    Hospital
  • Supervise contractors and
    sub-contractors during ongoing 
    constructions
  • Ensure quality of work by developing
    appropriate monitoring and evaluation tools
  • Formulate technical work plans with
    consultations from users and the Administration team.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelors of
    Science in Civil Engineering with a Higher Diploma in Building and Civil
    Engineering or any other related field.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience
    in similar roles preferably in a Hospital Setting
  • Proficient use of Arch CAD software,
    Auto CAD, ArcGIS/Arc View with ease
  • Excellent communication and
    interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good team player
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary
    environment with minimum supervision
  • Proactiveness
  • Age: Below 40 years
