University was founded when the historic Bishop Tucker Theological College was
promoted as a university in 1997. Bishop Tucker Theological College trained
clergy and educators during its 84-year history from 1913-1997. The local chief,
Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to operate in Mukono. International
partnerships were part of the College’s missionary history. The Church Mission
Society teamed with Ugandan leaders and others to assure the College had the
necessary intellectual and other capital. By the late 1990s, the Church of
Uganda sought to have a broader impact on society through the higher education
– not only of clergy but of other professionals as well. Uganda Christian
University was established in 1997.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cleaning of the Dining areas and Equipment used in the Dining
before, during and after service. - Dusting, wiping of surfaces and equipment that are used in serving.
- Clean and polish counters, shelves, walls, furniture, or equipment
in food service areas or other areas of the dining and mop floors. - Prepare tables according to instruction and to see that the station
is clean and all tables are properly set. - Clearing plates, cutlery and tumblers from the dinning promptly
after they have been used to minimize breakages. - Remove dirty dishes and other tableware from tables and carry them
to the kitchens for cleaning. - Refilling the tanks with drinking water and making sure the sinks
are clean. - Assist in serving food to students when need arises in the dining.
- Must be ready and willing to work on weekends and public holidays.
- Promoting personal hygiene especially in food handling and
dispensing. - Perform any other official duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Wash Bay (Stewardess) must hold a Certificate in Catering and
Hotel Management from a recognized Institution. - A minimum of three years of experience in a busy kitchen or dining
performing similar tasks. - Must have excellent strong hygienic skills.
- A committed Christian who is honest and trustworthy.
