Uganda Christian
University was founded when the historic Bishop Tucker Theological College was
promoted as a university in 1997. Bishop Tucker Theological College trained
clergy and educators during its 84-year history from 1913-1997. The local
chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to operate in Mukono.
International partnerships were part of the College’s missionary history. The
Church Mission Society teamed with Ugandan leaders and others to assure the
College had the necessary intellectual and other capital. By the late 1990s,
the Church of Uganda sought to have a broader impact on society through the
higher education – not only of clergy but of other professionals as well.
Uganda Christian University was established in 1997.

Job Summary: The
Waiter/Waitress will serve food to Students/Staff in the Dining Hall. The job
holder will also be required to take an active role in cleaning the dining area
and the equipment used therein i.e. cutlery and crockery. The job holder will
be under the direct supervision of the Catering Supervisor.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Cleaning of the dining areas and equipment used in the dining
before, during and after service.
Dusting, wiping of surfaces and equipment that are used in serving.
Prepare tables according to instruction and to see that the station
is clean and all tables are properly set.
Clearing plates, cutlery and tumblers from the dinning promptly
after they have been used to minimize breakages.
To get feedback from students/staff regarding meals and forward it
to the supervisor.
To be on standby at the station during serving times and to serve
all students equally (both in the dining and in the Hostels).
Refilling the tanks with drinking water and making sure the sinks
are clean.
Must be ready and willing to work on weekends and Public Holidays.
Perform any other official duties assigned by the Supervisor on
duty.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

The applicant must hold a Certificate in Catering and Hotel
Management from a recognized Institution.
Three years of experience in a busy kitchen or dining serving a
minimum of 500 clients.
Must have excellent strong hygienic skills.
A committed Christian who is honest and trustworthy.
