The National Union
of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) is an umbrella organization promoting
the rights of Persons with disabilities in Uganda with the vision of having
‘Dignity for every person with disability.’ NUDIPU exists to advocate for the
rights of PWDs in a unified voice for improved livelihoods.
About Study:
NUDIPU and SINTEF
through its institute SINTEF Technology and Society – Norway (hereinafter
called SINTEF), have agreed to carry out a National study on living conditions
among people with disabilities in Uganda. 
NUDIPU is responsible for coordination and management of the study.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Coordinate and manage the research study
  • Ensure the research is on course and
    represent NUDIPU in the Research Team, the Reference Group.
  • Represent NUDIPU in the workshops and
    other Living Condition meetings
  • Be the secretary for the RT and the RG
  • Ensure that NUDIPU fulfills the above
    requirements
  • Be the contact point in NUDIPU for all
    stakeholders who engages in the LC study,      and
    in particular 5 with other members of the RT and the RG
  • Be the on-site contact point for SINTEF
    and assist in all matters that can contribute to the smooth implementation
    of the study
  • Participate in the Capacity Building
    program, training of enumerators and during data collection
  • Provide support to the Research Team as
    needed
  • Carry out research activity in addition
    to the survey;
  • Analyses of policies in Uganda with
    respect to inclusion of vulnerable groups and human rights
  • Carry out a limited qualitative study
    among individuals with disability to complement the findings from the
    survey
  • Synthesizing existing documentation and
    research on disability in Uganda

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s
    degree in social work, or community development and or any other relevant
    humanities. A relevant Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • Three years’ experience in doing
    research work and with vast knowledge on disability issues.
  • He or she should be able to work under
    minimum supervision.
