Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB) was founded in 1957 as a registered faith
based Non-Governmental Organization under the Trustees Incorporation Act (CAP
165) as Registered Trustees of the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau. UPMB
brings together Protestant Churches in Uganda involved in Provision of Health
Services. It serves as a link between Government and / or Development Partners
and UPMB-Member Institutions and provides support to its members through
capacity strengthening, coordination, lobbying and Advocacy, public relations
and translation of government policies.
The Prevention Officer (EMTCT, VMMC & HTS) will spearhead mentorship and
supervise implementation of activities in both technical aspects of PMTCT/EMTCT&HTS
services The major role shall include coordinating trainings, providing
mentorship, supporting documentation and reporting related to HTS, MCH and
EMTCT.
- Providing mentorship to front line
health workers within the implementing facilities health facilities in
delivery of elimination of mother to child transmission of HIV services
(Option B+). Early Infant Diagnosis care and related EMTCT &HTS and
Child health Care in the implementing districts. - Support Implementation and use of MoH
guidelines in line and ensure compliance with MoH policies - S/he coordinates required trainings for
the district staff in relation to implementation of EMTCT - Support professional continuous medical
education sessions at the health facilities in line with EMTCT and related
MCH areas - Ensure the health workers obtain the
updated and required tools to support care
- Coordinate and support follow up of
clients to improve retention in care for Option B+ patients and their
exposed infants. - Support integration of maternal care
within EID care points to support client centered care
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s
Degree in Humanities with very good experience in prevention work EMTCT
and HTS services or Diploma in Midwifery ECN or Nursing from a recognized
education institution. - Additional training in elimination of
mother to child transmission Option B+ - At least five years of work experience
in a busy HIV clinical setting preferably in N60 health system setting. - Excellent communication skills
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of
maternal and child ‘ health issues especially goal oriented ANC
