OD and Volunteer Management
Society (URCS) is the leading national humanitarian organization in Uganda and
a member of the International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement. The ICRC is an
International humanitarian institution which has a mandate to protect victims
of international and armed conflicts i.e. the wounded, refugees, civilians,
prisoners and other non-combatants.
The Officer – Volunteer Management will work closely with the Branch Managers
and Coordinator OD and Volunteer Management to implement the URCS Volunteer
policy and guidelines and put in place a cohesive infrastructure of motivated
volunteers.
- Implement a robust volunteer management
framework at the Branch in order to attract and retain value-adding
volunteers to the Society; - Lead the dissemination of the Volunteer
policy and guidelines across all the URCS Branches; - In line with the URCS Volunteer policy
and guidelines, develop and implement structures, systems and procedures
to support volunteers in line with the agreed Policy. - Orient volunteers to increase their
understanding of the organization mandate, principles, values and its
services and the role and responsibilities of volunteers; - Ensure that volunteers are given
appropriate training to be successful in their positions; - Establish and implement a process for
evaluating the contribution of individual volunteers at the Branches; - Plan and implement formal and informal
volunteer recognition activities to recognize the contribution of
volunteers to the organization; - Ensure that volunteers work in a safe,
healthy, and supportive environment; - Monitor and ensure that volunteer
receive their monthly incentives. - Prepare and submit timely & quality
accountabilities and reports in accordance with URCS standards and
policies.
- The ideal candidate for the Uganda Red
Cross Society (URCS) Officer – Volunteer Management job opportunity should
preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in SWASA, Community Development,
Development Studies from a reputable academic institution; - Post-graduate qualification in Public
Administration, Human Resource or a related field will be an added
advantage. - Three years of experience in volunteer
Management preferably with membership based organizations; - Previous work experience with large
international or national humanitarian agency level preferably with
governance structures; - Demonstrable capability in the
development of Volunteer Engagement Strategy; - Experience in the recruitment,
induction, motivation and management of volunteers - High level of integrity
- Good knowledge of Grassroots Program
Design, Management and Implementation. - Knowledge of planning and budgeting.
- Knowledge of policy implementation.
- Demonstrated creativity and productivity
in resource mobilization. - Excellent written and verbal
communication skills, including well developed proposal and report writing
skills
