Mbarara Regional
Referral Hospital has received a grant from EGPAF under the USAID RHITES-SW
project to support implementation of integrated health services, including
quality maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, nutrition, malaria and child
development services at the hospital. 
Job Summary:
The Laboratory Technician will conduct generalized laboratory examination for
disease diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Liaising with clinical staff in preparation of patients for
    laboratory tests.
  • Participation in collection, handling and transportation of
    specimens to the laboratory
  • Carrying out laboratory analysis, interpret results and submit
    reports to clinicians
  • Requisitioning for equipment and other supplies.
  • Ensuring that equipment is functional and well maintained
  • Ensuring safety measures against hazards.
  • Participating in quality assurance for laboratories
  • Participating in research activities
  • Adhering to professional code of conduct and Ethics.
Key Result Areas: 
  • Laboratory Tests results and treatment harmonized
  • Laboratory investigations done and results interpreted
  • Advising clinical staff on proper collection, handling and
    transportation of specimen given
  • Quality assurance in the Laboratory data compiled and sorted
  • Periodic reports submitted.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant must hold a National Diploma in Medical Laboratory
    Techniques or its equivalent from a recognized Institution
  • Must be registered with allied Health Professionals council.
