of Uganda was established by the National Library Act, 2003. This Act repealed
the Public Libraries Act, 1964 which had established the Public Libraries
Board. The Board had been charged with the responsibility of establishing,
equipping, managing and maintaining libraries in Uganda. Following the
enactment of the Local Governments Act, 1997, this responsibility was
decentralized to the local governments.
- The ICT Specialist will steer the review of NLU’s ICT Policy
- Reviewing Local Area and Wide Area Networks of the National Library
of Uganda - Conduct systems analysis, design and Upgrades for the National
Library in Uganda - Responsible for website administration and management
- In charge of the digitization of information materials of the
National Library of Uganda - Continuous repairs and maintenance of NLU’s ICT equipment and
facilities - Troubleshooting of minor IT problem.
- Perform any other duty as assigned
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in computer science OR
Information Technology OR Bachelor of Library and Information Science with
a post graduate qualification in IT/ Computer Science from a recognized
institution. - At least two years of working experience in a reputable institution/
organization.
