Grants Accountant

Grants Accountant coordinates grants management, financial reporting and
contract matters to ensure timely and effective implementation of institutional
donor funded project activities
and monitoring
Create funded and sponsored programmes for each new
and modified grant in SAP
Generate a list of all grants that are closing in
respective month and share with the Finance and admin teams
Link all grant related account codes to each grant
upon approval of the grant
Project Outlines
Timely upload original budgets and subsequent
changes for all projects in SAP
Reconcile the project finance and grants modules and
ensure that all WBSs are linked to the grant
Consolidate and submit timely and accurate financial
reports in accordance with donor
reporting schedules
Keenly analyse financial reports and provide
recommendation to the Project Coordinators on future forecasts and planning.
Align
the financial and narrative reports, demonstrating progress to meet targets and
staying on budget
Reconcile the finance and grants module reports to
ensure that no NRGRANT transactions
remain outstanding at end of period
Compare the Project report to the Fund report to
ensure that project expenditure has been charged to the grant and there are no mapping issues between project and
grant data
Realistic explanations provided for all variances
Compliance:
Support
all project audits and also implement any audit recommendations
Complete the financial report at the CO for the
period to be audited
Provide auditors all requested supporting documents
related to the sampled transactions
Ensure adherence to financial controls, donor compliance, processes and procedures
Problems: Managing a budget that is utilized by staff he/she doesn’t directly
supervise
The
applicant for the Plan International Grants Accountant job opportunity
must hold a Bachelor’s degree (hons) in Commerce or Business administration majoring
in accounting
Previous experience in grants management.
Part professional qualification in accountancy (CPA,
ACCA) at intermediate or affiliate level.
Three to
five years’ experience in a similar role working in a computerized accounting
office in an NGO set-up.
NGO experience is an added advantage

Excellent interpersonal skills
Proficient in computer skills and use of relevant
accounting software package such SAP, QuickBooks, SUN systems, etc.
