of Uganda was established by the National Library Act, 2003. This Act repealed
the Public Libraries Act, 1964 which had established the Public Libraries
Board. The Board had been charged with the responsibility of establishing,
equipping, managing and maintaining libraries in Uganda. Following the
enactment of the Local Governments Act, 1997, this responsibility was
decentralized to the local governments.
- The Assistant Librarian (Bibliographic Control) will be tasked with
sorting and accessioning information materials acquired through Legal
Deposit - Stamping prior to classification and cataloguing of Legal Deposit materials
- Data entry into the databases
- Responsible for packing and recording book donations before they are
dispatched to IRS - Compiling statistics of book distribution
- Assist in collecting of legal deposit materials from various
publishers - Charging and discharging of library and information materials
- Perform any other duty as assigned
The
applicant must hold a Diploma in Library and Information Science
One year
of working experience in a library
