Job Summary: The
Database Administrator will develop, support and maintain performance of all
corporate databases; work with the developers and users of the databases and
database applications to assist, manage and tailor the databases to meet
corporate needs and requirements; plan and direct the development and
implementation of database changes when required and to ensure optimum
performance from the database sub-systems and related applications.

implementation of database changes when required and to ensure optimum
performance from the database sub-systems and related applications.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To develop architecture, policies and procedures for database
operations, maintenance, security, archiving and recovery. - To monitor and tune database performance as well as control user
access and security. - To ensure corporate performance monitoring and recommending
appropriate action in case of performance Bottlenecks. - To perform database scripts reviews both from internal and external
developers to confirm correctness to both user and business function needs
before deployment to both test and production environments. - Plan and execute patches to the database systems in order to fix
published and non-published vulnerabilities. - To ensure functionality of databases and adherence of procedures by
all users. - To plan for all database systems, storage/capacity requirements.
- To analyze business application requirements and develop
specifications for databases construction and maintenance. - To oversee database backups, clustering, mirroring, replication and
failover. - To create and maintain reporting systems using products such as
crystal reports. - To communicate regularly with technical, applications and
operational staff to ensure database integrity and security plus issues
escalation to external support groups where necessary.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the Finance Trust Bank (FTB) Database
Administrator job placement should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer
Science, Information System or other related numerical fields. - A Certification in any Enterprise Database System such as Oracle or
MSSQL server is a must have. - Possession of an ITIL certification is an added advantage.
- At least three years’ experience in conducting general Oracle
database administration tasks such as database implementations, backups,
and account maintenance. - At least two years of administering database platform specific
advanced features (e.g. clustering, encryption, logical/physical standby,
ETL, replication) - Keen attention to details.
- Good team player with ability to work long hours with minimal
supervision.
