Uganda Women’s
Effort to Save Orphans (UWESO) is a national non-government organization which
was founded in 1986 by Ugandan mothers committed to providing relief aid to
needy children left parentless by the civil turbulence of the mid-1980’s and
the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
About USAID’s BETTER OUTCOMES Project:
Being a consortium
partner on USAID’s BETTER OUTCOMES for Children and Youth in Eastern and
Northern Uganda, UWESO currently is implementing an Economic Strengthening
component of BETTER OUTCOMES Project to reach out to 60,000 vulnerable
households in 20 districts in Eastern and Northern, the USAID funded Districts
through Livelihoods and other pathways over a five year period (2015-2020)
.Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA) Methodology, Business Skills
Training, Financial Literacy Education and Bank Linkage are key interventions
under the economic strengthening component.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Process and reconcile accounting documents such as invoices,
    employees’ advances and their retirement.
  • Compile necessary documentation for cost share reporting.
  • Review vendors’ invoices and reconcile them with the local purchase
    order form and other documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Select and compile data for statements, expenditures, revenues,
    accounts and reports.
  • Prepare process payment vouchers to disburse funds; enter and code
    financial information in the Navision system.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant must hold a Diploma in Accounting & Finance, Business
    Administration or its equivalent.
  • Professional qualification i.e. at least CPA level one.
  • A minimum of three years’ working experience in a similar post
    working with a reputable NGO.
  • Ability to use computer packages like Microsoft Office and
    accounting software applications like Navision, SUN and Quick books is an
    added advantage.
  • Numeric skills, team orientation, effective communication are
    required.
  • Must exhibit a high degree of integrity.
  • Adhere to child protection safe guarding policy
