Mbarara Regional
Referral Hospital has received a grant from EGPAF under the USAID RHITES-SW
project to support implementation of integrated health services, including
quality maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, nutrition, malaria and child development
services at the hospital.
Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician will primarily ensure rational giving out and use of
drugs at the pharmacy and to provide effective supply chain of the drugs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Dispenses drugs to the patients
  • Compound and pack medications for patients in the clinics
  • Carries out adherence monitoring at pharmacy level
  • Quantifies needs at the dispensing level.
  • Provides drug related counselling to patients
    and identifies treatment technicalities (drug interactions, treatment
    mismatch, etc).
  • Keeps a record of all pharmacy appointments and missed appointments
    for patients on ART
  • Carries out data entry at pharmacy level
  • Responsible for electronic planning data entry and management
  • Participates in patient review meetings with the clinicians
  • Performs any other relevant duty as may be assigned by the
    pharmacist from time to time.
Key Result Areas: 
  • Drugs given out to all registered patients in the clinic
  • Accurate information generated on patients and drug consumption.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant must hold a Diploma in Pharmacy or Dispensing from an
    institution recognized by the Pharmaceutical society of Uganda (PSU).
  • The applicants must be registered with the allied medical council
  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS issues in Uganda
  • Knowledgeable in planning and budgeting for medicines and pharmacist
    procedures.

  • Experience in handling ARVs.
