About US:
Rural
Electrification Agency (REA) is the secretariat of the Rural Electrification
Board (REB) established by statutory instrument 2001 No. 75. REA is mandated to
implement Government’s rural electrification programs. The Government of Uganda
through REA is implementing a number of electricity connection projects with
financial support from development partners to meet national electricity access
targets. Now, with additional funding support by the Islamic Development Bank,
REA intends to integrate planned new electricity capacity into the national
grid, increase rural access rate to electricity in the North, North-Eastern
[Apac, Kole, Lira, Dokolo, Pader, Agago, Kitgum, Soroti, Katakwi, Tororo], and
South-Western[Kabale, Kisoro, Kanungu, Mitooma, Rukungiri, Ntungamo, Ibanda,
Isingoro, Mbarara, Kyenjojo,Kabarole, Kamwenge] regions of the country and
contribute towards increasing the interconnection between Uganda and Rwanda.

Job Summary: The
Community Affairs Assistant should be a resident in the project area and will
disseminate project information, sensitize, mobilize and coordinate community
involvement and stakeholder participation for smooth project implementation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Tasked with the implementation of the social aspects of the project
within the project areas, through community sensitization and information
dissemination on the project’s objectives. - Increase community awareness of REA projects, including connections
initiatives and any other project interventions. - Enhance community participation during project implementation
- Mobilize and coordinate community involvement during project
implementation - Sensitize communities on the productive use of energy and issues of
health and safety when using electricity - Giving marketing support to the service providers in the different
service territories. - Assist the way leaves office in addressing disputes over way leaves
rights, land ownership and tree cutting. - The community affairs assistant shall be resident in the project
area either Northern and North Eastern or Southern and South Western of Uganda.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) Community Affairs Assistant
must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field including;
Communications and Media, Public Relations, Marketing, Social Sciences,
Social Work and Development Studies. - At least two years of experience in outreach-related programs.
- Public speaking ability in the English language and additional local
languages. - Computer literate and able to used Ms. Office applications for
report writing. - Age: Below 35
years of age.
