to improving key population- based national health indicators; build the
capacity of the Ugandan government to carry out a sustainable and locally-
driven response to the HIV epidemic, while also improving TB, malaria,
nutrition, MNCH+A, and WASH outcomes. JSI will work with Ugandan stakeholders
to design and implement health system strengthening strategies to scale up
high-impact, evidence-based interventions at the national, sub-regional,
district, and community levels. Interventions will include VMMC, virtual
elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, antiretroviral therapy, and
condom education and distribution. JSI will focus where the greatest impact can
be realized, with a priority on hard-to-reach and high-HIV-prevalence
locations.
Infectious Disease Advisor will be responsible for leading implementation activities
that improve access to and quality of HIV services, including community-based
HTS, linkages to HIV treatment, TB/HIV co-infection and malaria services in the
Lango sub-region. The Senior Infectious Disease Advisor will lead infectious
disease specialist on the project, ensuring HIV ~ and malaria prevention, care
and treatment programs are clinically sound, evidence-based, and aligned with
the priorities of the MOH, USAID,
PEPFAR, PMI, and other stakeholders.
- Provide
strategic and technical leadership for RHITES N-Lango on adult and pediatric
HIV care and treatment, TB and malaria services; - Develop
innovative approaches to test, initiate, retain are attain viral
suppression for patients enrolled HIV programs; and TB and malaria service
provision to the target populations; - Provide
technical input and expertise in shaping sustainable HIV care and
treatment, TB/HIV and malaria service provision to the target populations; - Develop/access,
disseminate, and ensure operationalization of training materials and
systematically update technical and other staff on HIV care and treatment,
TB/HIV and malaria services;
- The
applicant for the USAID RHITES-N Project Senior Infectious Disease Advisor
job placement should hold an MD or equivalent, with training in HIV care
and treatment and TB/HIV; - Master’s
degree in Public Health or other related field; infectious diseases
training an advantage; - At
least five to ten years’ experience in the area of HIV or TB service
provision and a strong understanding of malaria prevention and treatment; - Ability
to lead a team and interact successfully with project staff, MOH, civil
society and community organizations in HIV care and treatment and TB/HIV; - Excellent
knowledge and understanding of both Ugandan and global guidelines for HIV,
TB, malaria and other infectious diseases;
