organization working to protect and improve the wellbeing and health of
vulnerable communities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
to improving key population- based national health indicators; build the
capacity of the Ugandan government to carry out a sustainable and locally-
driven response to the HIV epidemic, while also improving TB, malaria,
nutrition, MNCH+A, and WASH outcomes. JSI will work with Ugandan stakeholders
to design and implement health system strengthening strategies to scale up
high-impact, evidence-based interventions at the national, sub-regional,
district, and community levels. Interventions will include VMMC, virtual
elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, antiretroviral therapy, and
condom education and distribution. JSI will focus where the greatest impact can
be realized, with a priority on hard-to-reach and high-HIV-prevalence
locations.
and Linkages Senior Advisor will lead the RHITES N Lango CUAMM team in the
region and ensure quality implementation of project activities. Providing
technical oversight for referral, linkage and retention activities. Including
functionalization of family support groups, MNCH peer mothers, linkage
facilitators, male action groups; set up of an integrated referral system able
to facilitate, track and document bi-directional referrals and strengthening
community health information.
- S/he
will also oversee a youth health internship programme to provide students
and fresh graduates with hands on learning opportunities, fill critical
gaps and attract young workers to underserved areas and engage in
operational research. - Set
up of a fraud free maternal transport reimbursement voucher scheme to
support emergency obstetric care referral. - Support
the planning for and implementation of integrated outreaches. - Support
upstream (national) and downstream (district) advocacy and engagement to
cause desired change and interest in the service areas for Lango,
participate in relevant national and regional fora. - Actively
contribute to elaboration of high quality periodic reports.
- The
applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Development
Studies, or Health or related disciplines, plus a Master’s degree in
Public Health, or Health Services management or related discipline. - At
least five years’ experience in work related to the job function especially
supporting HIV/TB, MNH, community linkages and referrals. - Previous
experience in working with District Local Governments and knowledge of the
health context in Lango will be an added advantage. - Excellent
organizational skills, be self-driven and able to work effectively under
pressure. - Ability
to communicate with clarity in speaking and writing and be comfortable
with quantitative methods and have solid computer skills. - Knowledge
of the relevant Uganda national health policies, strategies and
structures.
