households and communities to fulfill their obligations in child care and
development and affiliated to Baptist Union of Uganda. Share An Opportunity –
Uganda’s key thematic areas are child health, Basic Education for OVC’s, Child
Advocacy, Enterprise Development and food security, and institutional
development for community based organisations while HIV/AIDS is mainstreamed in
the program.
Job Summary: The Project
Officer Tree Planting Project will support a tree planting project in Busiu and
Bubutu project area.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Build
    skills and knowledge of individual and farmer groups in tree planting and
    agro forestry.
  • Mobilize
    communities and stakeholders to support project implementation
  • Ensure
    implementation of the project in a way that enables the community
    appreciate the value of trees in enhancing rural livelihoods.
  • Identify
    and assess strengths and training needs of existing farmer groups and
    promising individual farmers in as far as tree planting and livelihoods
    are concerned.
  • Document
    project progress, success stories and lessons learnt through submission of
    comprehensive monthly activity reports
  • Mentor
    community volunteers on the effective management of the project
  • Participate
    in planning and budgeting of project activities
  • Build
    strategic networks and contacts to further project work.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The
    Project Officer Tree Planting Project must hold a degree in forestry/agro
    forestry, environmental studies or any related field and should be
    residents within those project areas. He/she should be computer literate
    with basic project management skills and should be able to ride a motorcycle.
