Development (ACODEV) is a regional NGO that was founded in 2003 and runs
Integrated Community Development Programs in Public Health, Human Rights, OVC
support, Livelihood and Grassroots Capacity Development programs including
sub-granting for small grassroots organizations in East and now Southern Africa
region.
About BERGESTROME FOUNDATION Project:
ACODEV through partnership with
BERGESTROME FOUNDATION is launching a 3 year project in five refugee
settlements in Adjumani District. The project focuses on promoting an informed
and voluntary use of family planning services by women and men between 15-49
years by strengthening capacity of Village Health Teams (VHTs) to provide
Quality Community Based Family Planning Services and Health Workers (H/Ws) to
provide Quality Facility Based FP services particularly LA/PMs in the target
sub-counties to deliver quality Family Planning services. The project will
support Family Planning commodity supplies as well as creating an enabling
environment to sustain delivery and utilization of quality Family Planning
Services in the District of Adjumani.
Job Summary: The Project
Coordinator is responsible for overall coordination, supervision and
implementation of project activities by creating linkages and partnerships
within the districts to ensure smooth program Operations. They will support and
supervise the project staff to ensure quality work on the Project is achieved.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Supervise
    the Project Officer, M&E Officer and Driver to ensure an effective
    delivery of the project mandate in the district
  • Directly
    work to ensure effective execution of all phases of project activities
  • Participate
    in district health sector engagements through meetings and any other
    existing platforms.
  • Support
    accountability mechanisms which include but limited to programmatic as
    well as financial accountability.
  • Ensure
    compliance with donor requirements including providing weekly updates,
    monthly reporting as well as quarterly reporting
  • Develop
    and disseminate quality assurance strategies to direct service providers.
  • Provide
    overall direct technical assistance to all project staff and direct health
    service providers in order to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Provide
    approvals to all project documents including but not limited to reports,
    requisitions, etc.
  • Participate
    in development, implementation and follow-up of training activities for
    CHWs, health workers and any other project structures.
  • Work
    with the appropriate district authorities to ensure provision of quality
    long Acting and permanent methods of family planning.
  • Responsible
    for logistics management for the project supplies
  • Responsible
    for budget and day to day financial management, and monthly book-keeping
    reports.
  • Develop
    and maintain contacts with health workers, CSOs, IPs, UNHCR teams,
    CHWs/VHTs, LG leaders and Governmental authorities.
  • Conduct
    monthly site visits, review the programming and implementation of ongoing
    project activities, prepare reports, make recommendations and conduct
    follow-up visits as directed by the Program Manager.
  • Ensure
    consistent and efficient use of all resources especially financial
    resources by all field based staff.
  • Perform
    other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The
    applicant must hold a Master’s degree in public health or Social Science
    Degree;
  • Five
    years of hands on experience in managing projects of health in nature;
  • Previous
    experience working with in remote communities especially in Humanitarian
    environment
  • Good
    communication skills
  • Fluent
    in written and spoken English and any local languages;
  • Knowledge
    of Microsoft Office software required;
  • Good
    organization and planning skills;
  • Good
    organization and planning skills;
  • Ability
    to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure.
