Children’s Foundation -Uganda (Baylor-Uganda) is an indigenous not-for-profit
child health and development organisation affiliated to the Baylor College of
Medicine International Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI), a Network of
paediatric HIV/AIDS care and treatment Children’s Clinical Centres of
Excellence and international program offi ces in 11 countries across Africa,
Eastern Europe and North America.
Job Summary: The Laboratory
Services Coordinator will review and monitor the implementation of guidelines
for providing laboratory services
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Develop
    and monitor the implementation of strategies to strengthen specimen
    referral systems
  • Keenly
    monitor the implementation of MoH Quality Improvement Programs in
    laboratories
  • Develop
    and monitor implementation of region periodic work plans, procurement plan
    and budgets for providing laboratory services
  • Develop
    and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders, and advocate for
    coordinated and harmonized laboratory systems strengthening interventions
  • Offer
    technical support in develop regional laboratory performance targets and
    monitor their implementation
  • Keenly
    monitor stock management, proper forecasting and distribution of
    laboratory supplies, to strengthen laboratory logistics systems
  • Develop
    strategies to monitor the implementation of MoH accreditation process in
    the regional laboratories
  • Monitor
    Biosafety and waste management practices
  • Carry
    out periodic needs analysis of the regional laboratories and monitor the
    implementation of the laboratory capacity building plan
  • Conduct
    research
    .

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The
    applicant must hold a Master’s degree in Immunology and clinical
    microbiology or any Laboratory related course or public health with a
    degree in Biomedical Laboratory Science or any other laboratory related
    degree course.
  • Three
    years’ of experience in Laboratory Health Programming
  • Customer
    care, Teamwork, Focused and observant
  • Analytical
    skills
  • Good
    networking and communication skills
  • Good
    documentation and reporting skills
